Food on the Move Helps Remote Families in Need

If it weren’t for the support of friends like you who make it possible for our Mobile Food Pantry to reach families in need, people in remote areas would not have access to the healthy food they need to get by.

Second Harvest’s first priority is helping our clients eat right, and if they can’t come to one of our distribution points, we’ll take the food to them. For this family of four in Hancock County, that’s just the case. The father works, but he has diabetes and his health insurance is expensive. The mom is disabled and unable to work, and the small SSI payment each month is not enough to feed their two growing children.

Good nutrition is essential to this family’s well being, and, thanks to you, Second Harvest is meeting those needs, directly delivering more than 10.2 million pounds of food to thousands of people in 2015.
